Meet the Coltherd Racing team
GAVIN SCOTT (stable lad)
Having spent 12 years working for Borders trainer Alistair Whillans, Gavin brings a wealth of experience to the Clarilawmuir yard. In the past he has trained a point-to-pointer and still competes on the local show-jumping circuit. Gavin is also a familiar figure at all the Border common riding ride-outs.
Being around horses is second nature to Amy, who as Lesley and Stuart's elder daughter has always been happy to help out with stable duties. She rides out horses from the yard every day and assists on weekend race days. As well as one-day eventing, Amy regularly competes at local show jumping events.
JACK HOLLIDAY (stable lad)
Jack, who hails from Langholm, comes to Clarilawmuir after learning his trade at a number of racing yards, including that of Nicky Richards in Penrith. A keen horseman, he regularly rides at flapping meetings throughout the Borders.
Johnny hails from the Kingdom of Fife and has previously worked in racing with trainers Lucy Normile, Clive Storey and Mike Smith. A keen point-to-point rider, Johnny's horse Poetic Presence is stabled at Coltherd Racing's Clarilawmuir yard. Johnny rides out every day and also helps on the farm.
Currently studying at Borders College for an access to teaching qualification, Zoe spent five years as a stable lass at the Somerset yard of trainer David Pipe, followed by a spell with Irish trainer Joseph O'Brien at his Owning Hill yard in County Kilkenny.
Currently taking a rural business management degree at Scotland's Rural College in Edinburgh, Connie regularly helps out with riding duties at the yard. She is a familiar face on the local one-day & three-day event circuit riding her horse Mumble.
The younger daughter of Stuart & Lesley, Milly helps around the yard before and after school, as well as riding out with the team at weekends and during school holidays. She is a regular competitor at local and Pony Club events.
Having started his riding career at the age of three, Rory's proudest moment came when he served as Selkirk's Royal Burgh Standard Bearer in 2016. He has been riding out for Coltherd Racing for the past three years, and away from the yard is the first team sports therapist for Hibernian Football Club.
Sam is currently conditional jockey for Sue & Harvey Smith at their Yorkshire yard. When not riding for the Smiths, he is available to ride for the Coltherd team of horses, if owners so wish. Sam has 29 wins under his belt, and was Northern Novice Point-to-point Champion in the 2015/2016 season.
